Based in the Chicagoland area but eager to travel for elopements, Heather has been documenting weddings for 12 years in her candid, fun, and true-to-life style. Learn more about the wedding experience with Oats & Honey Photography below:
Julie and Ryan…two of the sweetest, laid back, and most down to earth people you could ever meet. I mean, you don’t always spend time in an Uber just jamming to music with your wedding couples! (All while being a smidge late to their ceremony thanks to Chicago traffic).
They met one another in grad school at Penn State University (Go Lions!) and Julie is actually the one who made the first move! They then spent the next year and a half dating long-distance while Ryan was in Pennsylvania and Julie was in Chicago, later followed by New York City! After a year and a half, they decided to both relocate to Chicago, and have lived together ever since. They LOVE to cook together and try out new restaurants, traveling and exploring new places, and listening to music and going to concerts is also always a go to. When you ask Julie what she loves the most about Ryan, her answer is his sense of humor. He has her laughing all the time, and not just the little laughs – but the FULL laughs that kind of make you lose your breath for a minute. Ryan’s favorite thing about Julie is how sweet and caring she is.
These two have been through the COVID Wedding planning. The date changes, the venue changes, the unknowns, and they’ve faced these changes with such optimism. You just gotta go with the flow at this point right? Their wedding day itself was a little chilly, but for October in Illinois it was beautiful! We started off the day meeting up with them at a hotel to do some getting ready shots, and then took an Uber to the Conservatory to do their first looks and LOOK at how sweet that was! Their ceremony was beautiful, and the reception after was full of so much love and support from their family and friends. There was dancing, WONDERFUL food, and a great time all around. We took some cool shots on the bar, and spent the day just really enjoying the life these two have built with one another. Julie and Ryan – thank you SO much for inviting us to help capture your special day. It was such an honor to jam in an Uber with you, and spend the day with you both, and all of your friends and family.
(for context: this just perfectly sums up these two – this is Ryan’s mama…holding two tissues from Ryan. On those tissues are two different colognes. He wanted Julie to pick the one he wore on their wedding day. I mean…come on…how thoughtful and adorable is that?!
Cue the tears! (Yes, from me too! What can I say? I’m a sucker for weddings!)
